When Gigapixel AI is started for the first time, it does its best to benchmark the available hardware and make the best decision for performance configuration.
However, we are still improving this feature and there a few things we can sometimes do to speed it up.
First, make sure that you OS and drivers are up to date.
For Mac users, you can do this by going to Apple -> About This Mac -> Software Update
For Windows users, you can find our comprehensive update guide here.
Once your computer is up to date, go to File -> Preferences on Windows or Gigapixel AI -> Preferences on Mac.
A window including the options below will appear.
If time is of the essence and you are willing to sacrifice some quality, you can set "Use maximum quality AI models" to No.
Most people like to leave this on however so lets move down to the Performance settings.
Some machines have an integrated GPU and one or more discrete GPUs. The integrated GPU shares its processing power with the rest of the computer to make every day things go quickly. Often these computers will also have a discrete (sometimes called dedicated) GPU which only uses its processing power for graphics specific actions.
If you have a discrete GPU and this is set to No, change it to Yes and try processing again.
If you want to get your batch of images or single image done quickly and don't mind letting Gigapixel AI use all your GPU's processing power, then change your "Allowed graphics memory consumption" to High. If you try to use your computer while it is processing on High it will likely seem laggy however, it will increase processing speed. This setting is great if you're only doing one image at a time or want to set it to process a batch while you go get a cup of tea or a snack.
OpenVINO is our last option under Performance. It is specifically for 6th gen or later machines with an Intel CPU and an Intel integrated GPU. This is a very common configuration and turning this on will increase performance as well.
If the above was a bit confusing or you want more information, feel free to submit a support ticket with your system profile attached and we'll get back to you within one business day (typically a bit faster).
